Eric will check with JoEllen Davis to learn of main coordinator
for last Yard Sale. She will be asked to coordinate again, and
select a small committee to work with her.
We will get arch art work to supply to
Yard Sale participants to
use on their signs if they wish.
Advertising can again be done on Craig’s
list, and BCA will help
cover the cost of an ad in the Times Dispatch.
Sally Dunnington
reported that the next newsletter will be out in April. That
will announce the Spring Clean Up, the Yard Sale, Plant Swap and Garden
Walk.
Linda O’Neal will be invited to help with the newsletter.
A question was
raised regarding the status of tree planting by the city. It was
confirmed that the city has started planting, and expect to put in 100
per month
throughout the city.
The Board discussed
traffic issues, including the status of the roundabout at
Hermitage & Laburnum. Roy Reynolds commented that city committees and
supervisors were moving forward with their assignments. In reaction to
a
complaint from Bellevue neighbors, the traffic at Bellevue & Fauquier
and
Nottoway & Fauquier was also discussed. One recommendation for Bellevue
&
Fauquier was speed bumps of some type, and this idea will be sent to the
Traffic Committee for investigation.
Another neighbor
complained about inappropriate trash in the alley. They will
be advised by Doug Braband that the Board thought CAPS would be the best
resource to contact.
There was much
discussion about locations for a baseball stadium. Eric reported
on a presentation from Highwood, which received the contract from the
city for
both Shockoe Bottom and the Boulevard. It was suggested to have someone
from
Highwood come to speak at a future General Membership meeting. Eric
suggested
a subcommittee to watch and report on developments and he would like to
serve on it.
David Curtis of
Rosedale invited Bellevue to participate in a Neighborhood Food
Drive.
Rosedale has them twice a year. Roy will contact the Food Bank to learn
if they need
money or canned goods. Eric will respond to Rosedale to tell them we
are interested
in participating in some way, but we don’t know how yet.
Phil Strunk gave a
Treasurer’s Report with net funds of $8,367.76 as of 2/1/09. He
is getting several door prizes for the general membership meeting and
Roy reminded
us that JoEllen also had a few.
Roy commented on the
Ginter Park Library’s renovation and suggested BCA consider
some sort of gift in the near future. He will contact them to find out
what they need.
One suggestion was a gas fireplace for the new adult reading room.
The meeting was
adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
